Location: Toronto, CANADA | I'm considering staying in Guyana for an indefinite period of time; once I renew my Guyanese passport and can authenticate my Guyanese citizenship by birth. Left the country when I was only 2 years of age. LOL
To be employed legally in Guyana do I need legitimate documents like a social insurance number (Canada) or social security number (U.S.A.) to work in Georgetown? I am only in the initial research stage, so links to helpful government sites and further information would greatly be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

When you become employed your employer will apply on your behalf for a TIN (for deduction of taxes) and they will also apply for your National Insurance # for you. The only thing you'll have to do is sign the forms but it wont be a hassle to you at all.

You're all probably right! However, if my own sister (being a female) can handle herself living in Capetown, South Africa for 3 years. I sure as hell hope being a guy, I'll at least survive 6 months to a year in the homeland. Gonna pretend I don't know anything about the crime rate because of the media! LOL

Location: Toronto, CANADA | I'm just planning on seeing the condition of Guyana for myself. No absolute long-term plans in Guyana unless destiny unfolds that way. Just felt like discovering the place of my birth. I've already done the backpacking abroad to various countries with a "working holiday visa" before. Just thought why not try the place where I took my first steps??? Evidently since it'll be legal for me to work in Guyana, I may as well make a few dollars on vacation. It'll help me backpack and travel to other places like Trinidad and other Caribbean destiniations if I choose to. THEJOHNNY, I may not post and visit this message board that much. However, I'm informed enough to know you love to spar with everyone on this board . It's just part of your personality and it's all good and no offence taken!
